About Disciples Building in Denver, CO
A Denver-Based Home Builder Focused on Quality Craftsmanship, Clear Process & Lasting Results
How Did We Get Here?
It all started in middle school, working as indentured servants for our father in the suburbs of Illinois. He’d left the corporate world to start his own remodeling business, and we got dragged along as the labor — cleaning job sites, painting, hanging and finishing drywall.
We worked our way up from there: framing and carpentry, doors and windows, decks, plumbing, electrical, a little HVAC, siding, and eventually tile and cabinetry. Somewhere along the way we became his go-to crew — not because we were his sons, but because we knew the whole process and could be trusted to get every step right.
We worked with him every summer through college, fully planning to earn our degrees and get out of the trade for good. By then we’d done just about everything inside the four walls of a home, but what we really wanted was to help people — which is what pulled us toward psychology and medicine.
Life had other plans. After Luke broke his jaw riding one of those Lime scooters, we ended up back on the tools together — this time without Dad looking over our shoulders. It was a revelation: we actually loved the work, and realized we could turn our lives a full 180.
So we did. No more grad school, PhDs, or medical residencies. The new plan was to settle somewhere we’d both love living and build the skills Dad never taught us — new construction, foundations, pop-tops, full remodels, additions, and everything that comes with them.
The next summer we planned a trip to Denver and somehow landed the same interview with the same builder. We worked our way up to running its projects as PMs. The last step was the obvious one: start our own company and do it our way.
And here we are — doing exactly what we were called to do, and loving every minute of it. Looking back, it all feels like it was meant to happen. God had a plan, we trusted the process, and we can’t wait for what’s next.
Psalm 127:1 — "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain."
1 Peter 4:10 — "Use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards."
Meet the Owners
Thomas (Tommy) Zygmunt
When he isn’t spending time with his wife, son, or dog, Tommy is attending/volunteering at church, shredding the slopes on a snowboard, crafting and releasing original music, playing his handpan, drums and flutes, playing strategy board/video games, shooting a basketball, or gardening. There is always something on his plate other than building homes, but it is never overflowing. He is an avid dabbler in many things, while maintaining constant zen. As the saying goes, “jack of all trades, master of none, is sometimes better than a master of one.” Tommy personifies that saying in everything he does. He would tell you life is too short to be only doing what is familiar, because there is so much to learn and experience in just one life.
Luke Zygmunt
When he isn’t on the jobsite, Luke can usually be found fly fishing, running go-karts, or sitting down for a competitive board game with friends. He enjoys activities that require focus, patience, and a steady hand, which tend to mirror the way he approaches his work. Whether outdoors or indoors, he values time that keeps him sharp and engaged.
Luke has always had an interest in understanding how things work and how they are put together. That mindset carried naturally into construction, where attention to detail and proper sequencing matter at every stage. From early hands-on experience to managing full-scale projects, he developed a practical approach that emphasizes doing the work correctly rather than quickly.
He is someone who values consistency and follow-through, making sure that each part of a project is completed with care before moving on to the next. For Luke, building is not just about the finished product, but about the process that leads to it. He believes that when the work is done the right way, the results speak for themselves.
